Laboratory Supplies

The term ‘laboratory supplies’ can be used to cover a wide range of equipment and other items which can be used to full advantage in a laboratory environment.

The most obvious type of items used in a laboratory would be testing equipment.  This can include an array of products such as dipslides which test the level of bacteria in water and solids as well as Ph Meters and temperature sensors.  Items such as electrochemical sensors and conductivity meters also fall within the testing equipment category.

Other items needed within a sterile environment are cleaning products for the sterilisation of surfaces and equipment.  Two of the most popular disinfectants and sterilants are Virkon Disinfectant and PERAsafe disinfectant which are both extremely effective at infection control and for this reason are used by NHS establishments.

Good hygiene is an important part of good practice within a laboratory environment and this is not exclusive to using disinfectants.  Laboratory staff will need to protect their skin from harmful chemicals and bacteria.  LabGUARD hand soap is a suitable product to use on your skin which protects the hands but also doesn’t dry them out.  Laboratory technicians can also use a hand cream such as ProCARE Barrier hand cream which offers extra protection without leaving the hands feeling greasy.
